Event Checklist in RuStore: Tips from the Editorial Team

Events (in-app events) in RuStore are one of the simplest and most effective ways to draw attention to your app and remind users about it. Promotions, discounts, major updates, or themed activities are easy to format as events: they are displayed as a separate block in your app's card and also increase your chances of being featured in selections on the RuStore homepage.

My name is Varvara Yumina, and I am the Chief Editor of RuStore. Every year, we review thousands of events, but not all of them make it to the storefront. The reason isn't strict selection criteria, but rather that not all publishers consider important nuances when preparing their submissions.

In this guide, I will explain what to pay attention to when submitting an event and how to ensure your events truly deliver results.

Examples of Events

Events are temporary activities that take place within the app or game itself. For example:

  • discounts, bonuses, or promo codes for users;
  • seasonal events like "Black Friday";
  • collaborations, temporarily available missions or features;
  • major updates — the only acceptable informational occasion for this format that isn't directly related to internal app events.

Do not confuse events with regular PR campaigns, advertising, or feature descriptions of the app. If an activity is not directly related to your app, pertains only to the company's image, or represents a general advertising campaign without a unique mechanic inside the app — it is not an event in RuStore.

Why Use Events

For publishers, events are an easy way to tell a wide audience about their app or game without extra costs, and they can be created for free right in the RuStore Console.

For users, events are a reason to revisit the app: promotions, discounts, new modes, and bonuses create a sense of novelty and benefit. This approach not only increases conversions but also helps retain the audience within the product for as long as possible.

Furthermore, the brightest and most relevant events selected by the editorial team are more likely to appear in RuStore selections — for example, in the "Interesting," "Games," or "Apps" sections. This gives your app a chance to be featured on the storefront and gain more organic traffic. A well-planned event calendar helps you use every opportunity to re-engage and attract users as effectively as possible.

How to Create an Event

  1. Go to the developer dashboard in the RuStore Console.
  2. In the left menu, select "Promotion" → "Event Requests" → "Create Request".
  3. Fill out the form in Russian.
  4. Upload the event cover.
  5. Submit the request for moderation.

After that, you will receive an automatic email confirming receipt of your request. Additionally, the created request and its review status will be displayed in the RuStore Console.

Once the event is approved, it will automatically appear in the app's card on the specified dates.

Important Things to Remember

  • Events can only be created for published apps and games.
  • The moderation period for a request can take up to 14 days. If you don't receive a response, it means the event did not pass the selection.
  • You can submit no more than 5 events for one app at a time.
  • Create events regularly — this increases your chance of being featured and keeps the audience engaged.
  • Pay attention to the quality of your app card: design, description, and screenshots also influence the editorial team's decision.
  • The best results come from a comprehensive approach — combine events with other promotion tools.
  • Take care of your users — make events useful and interesting. Additional information on creating events is available in the official documentation.

Event Cover Design Rules

The cover is the first thing users see, so it's important that it is high-quality and immediately captures attention. Bright visuals with characters and large elements work best. Interface screenshots with text look dull and easily get lost among others.

Technical parameters of the cover:

  • Format — JPG or PNG;
  • File size — up to 3 MB;
  • Aspect ratio — 4:3;
  • Recommended resolution — 2880×2160 px;
  • The image must be of good quality.

Don't skimp on the event's visual — its quality largely determines whether users and the editorial team will notice it.

Safe Zone

The safe zone is the area of the cover within which key details will always be displayed correctly regardless of format or device. Key details and text are recommended to be placed within the boundaries of 1260×1030 px — ideally, they should be centered at the top.

Text on the Cover

If you add text to the cover, include only the essentials — 1–3 words. Choose a large font and do not duplicate the event's title or description. It is best to place the text in the upper part of the image.

To ensure your event cover looks professional and passes moderation without unnecessary edits, we have gathered recommendations in the guide for designers.

Overall, the number of rejected requests is small — no more than 25–30%. The most common reasons for rejection are violations of the safe zone in the image, repetitive text on the visual, low-quality graphics, errors or inconsistencies in the description, and the absence of an actual event.

Events are an excellent tool to keep your app visible and attract users again and again. The better an event is planned and designed, the higher the chance it will be featured in RuStore selections and gain additional reach and installs. Make events interesting and relevant to your audience, and they will truly work to grow and retain your user base.
